I decided, for various reasons, to wash the floor the "old fashioned way", and learned a few things:
- it does NOT cause labor to start. But is DOES aggravate my diastasis recti.
- if you plan on using said floor, NEVER get birch, no matter how glitzy it looks in the showroom, or how much the salesman pushes. It is WAY too soft. You breathe the wrong way and it dents. Anyone see the episode of Monk where he bought a house? He made Natalie keep moving on his new carpet to prevent uneven wear. That's kinda what birch is like on the floor. Make sure EVerything is cushioned with three inches of sherpa before entering.
- Micro-beveled edges are not cool. They are dirt and grime catchers. And the only way you have the slimmest chance of cleaning is on all fours with a toothbrush in hand.
- Floors get much cleaner when you wash them the old fashioned way.
- Our cabinets adjacent to the dishwasher need a shield of some sort to protect them from the inevitable splashes of incoming dirty dishes.
- Those ant traps that are comprised of a little square of cardboard and a few drops of poisonous liquid become cemented to the floor.
- Kids love to "help", just be prepared for flooding.
